Day Care Rehabilitation
PDF Print E-mail

In our Board Meeting held last Thursday, August 07, 2008, the Board decided that the donations we received for Typhoon Frank be utilized for the repair and rehabilitation of our adopted Day Care Centers which was devastated by the Typhoon. So far, we had identified six (6) Day Care Centers and had assigned the 6 Chairmen of the different Avenues of Service to verify and make an assessment as to the actual needs of each Day Care Center. Emphasis shall be made on the need to replace damaged books and teaching tools, potable water and the health of the children.

Tapping other groups that would be of help to us shall be explored so as to effectively achieve our goals at the shortest possible time. This is in line with the goal of our RI President to reduce child mortality. We will also distribute relief goods such as the brand new wearing apparel and shoes donated to us by Natasha and the 9 balikbayan boxes donated by the Rotary Club of Historic Filipinos of Los Angeles, USA, thru PP Dr. Ben Marte, our very own charter president. By this project, we hope that the children affected by this calamity can move on and return to their normal lives.

We have also discussed the issue of members who have not paid their monthly dues and assessments for Rotary year 2007-2008. Our club had already paid their RI dues in Rotary Year 2007-2008 in full, uncollected money which would have been spent for worthy projects. The Board will declare them delinquent if they cannot pay by the designated deadline set by the Board and will be terminated as members of our club. We hope to cleanse our membership roster in time for the payment of our RI dues before the end of August 2008.

We have just concluded our Cataract Operation Project jointly with the Philippine Academy of Ophthalmology-Iloilo Chapter, headed by Dra. Karen Francia, with more 30 patient beneficiaries operated free of charge.

We will also have a Blood Letting Project on August 21, 2008 at the Guimbal District Hospital.

I would like also to remind the various director chairmen of each Avenue of Service and their core members to be ready for our planning session on August 14, this coming Thursday at Ocean City, 7 pm. This is in preparation for the Governor’s Visit to our club on August 21, 2008. Please help me campaign for attendance.
