The Officers and Members of the Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo welcome Gov. Emma Nava on her Club Visitation to our club today.

Kudos to the committee chairmen of the different avenues of service for doing their respective homework! They were able to come up with beautiful and impressive programs and projects for our club this Rotary year 2008-2009.

The Club Administration Committee chaired by Dir. Don Marcellana, has good programs on how to improve members attendance in club regular meetings and members participation in club activities and projects. Organizing sports activities to produce good camaraderie among members is one worthy plan.

The Membership Committee of Dir. Marge Morano had vowed to increase membership and has lined up programs geared toward enhancing the awareness and involvement of each member towards our club projects and activities.

The Club Public Relation committee headed by Dir. Tony Kon has planned ambitious programs to go high tech by reviving our website and make it as a tool to encourage our members to be active and well aware of our club’s history and legacy. It will also serve as an information vehicle for everybody, including the international rotary family, to know news about our club. Watch out also for a new and revitalized Metro Post.

Dir. Roland Uy, chair of the Community Service Project, will implement a comprehensive community based project which would help realize the dream of our RI President in reducing child mortality. This is a high impact and continuing but sustainable project which will focus on the community, mother and child and will address the concerns on literacy, health, water and hunger.

The Committee of Dir. Paul Francia, Vocational Service, hopes to expand its scholarship program and will initiate training programs to advance career opportunities of young people.

Not to be outdone, the International service and Rotary Foundation of IPP Kano Ng and VP Corlie Ho, respectively, will implement 2 matching grants projects this quarter, a livelihood project and a fire truck donation. It has also formulated a program to make it easier and affordable for members to become a Paul Harris Fellow and/or Paul Harris sustaining members.

My fellow Metro Rotarians, we have a very challenging programs and projects presented to us by the different chairs of the different avenue of service. The ball is now in our hands, let us all dip our fingers to all these projects and make it a reality, for the success of these projects is also our success. Mabuhay ang Rotary Club of Metro Iloilo!
