Fellow Rotarians, we are being confronted with a very low percentage of attendance in our regular weekly meetings. It may not be alarming yet, but it is a concern that all of us had to address and find the necessary solutions immediately. Is the present effort of our club’s leadership not sufficient enough to stir back the interest of our members? It seems that most of our members today have no more time for Rotary... Or is it a deliberate action of some members because of their personal and political considerations which runs counter to the ideals of Rotary? This problem is with us for several years, and we have to examine ourselves as to where we stand. Are we just Rotarians in name? Do we still have the same idealism and the passion for Rotary when we first joined our club? Our club will be 30 years old next year. The strong foundation of our club today is the result of the hard work and sacrifices of our fellow Metro Iloilo Rotarians before us. Let us not allow the termites of complacency and disunity weaken the foundation of our club, for in the end, we will all be losers. Our club needs our continued support and protection. I am thankful that we still have a good number of Metro Iloilo Rotarians who show unquestioned loyalty to our club and the passion to follow the ideals of Rotary of “Service above self” and adhere to the “Four Way Test” of Rotary. I would like to remind all the members of the Board of Directors and Chairmen of all the avenue of service to attend our 5th monthly Board Meeting on November 6, 2008 at 7:00 PM at Ocean City Restaurant. |
