During our Board Meeting last week, the Board decided to address the problem of low percentage of attendance in our regular weekly meetings and during project implementation. Almost a third of our membership had been neglecting their duties as Rotarians, in attendance and in the payment of dues and assessments. This has greatly affected our club in terms of the attendance standard set by Rotary International and our club. These members may be very busy in their personal endeavors and have no more time for Rotary, or had already lost interest in Rotary, whether for personal or other reasons. Not only that the Board decided to communicate with them to confirm and find out the reasons for the delinquency, we also endeavored to improve our club’s programs and activities so as to make our membership in our club more exciting and worthwhile. However, decision to clean up our ranks has to be made in order for our club to move forward and to have a strong, solid and active membership base. There will be a medical mission to be held at Iloilo Doctors Hospital from Nov. 17 to Nov. 19, 2008 to benefit our aeta (ati) brothers and sisters. I would like to encourage our members to be a part of this worthy project facilitated by our very resourceful Director Dr. Paul Francia. Congratulations to our Darts team headed by PE Apuy Chan Chu for winning the championship in the on-going Zones 1, 2 & 3 InterClub Sportsfest. Congratulations, too, to our Badminton Team of VP Toto Tanagon and PP Jun Borromeo for emerging 3rd place in the Badminton event. Thank you! Our club is very proud of you. More events will be contested in the following weeks to come and I would like to encourage our members to actively participate and hopefully will win the overall championship. |
