Today we will be nominating members for election as President of our club for Rotary Year 2010-2011. One of those nominated today will be elected as President of our club during our election day next week, on December 16, 2008. In our Board Meeting last week, when the matter of who will be the President of our club is discussed, it seems that nobody is prepared and ready to accept the responsibilities to serve our club. But I believed that many of our members have all the capabilities to be the leader of our club. Each member in his own time will eventually be call to serve our club. It is about time that we decide as to who will continue to lead our club and carry on the legacy nurtured by our past leaders for the past 30 years. RC Metro Iloilo is not just a club, but it is already an institution in the field of selfless service to our fellowmen, a trait which is worth preserving and emulated. The leader that we need should be a highly motivated, fully committed and dedicated Rotarian to continue the mission and vision of our club as set forth by our leaders before us. Fellow Metro Rotarians, who will that BE?

Last week, we saw the turnover of another set of equipments to the BALAY DALANGPAN of SPED School to fulfill our commitment to provide the necessary equipment and training tools to be used in their livelihood training programs for their physically and mentally challenged students. This is already the sixth batch of equipments donated to the Balay Dalangpan from our club.

Last week we also turned over a Ten-wheeler Fire Truck to the Federation Fire Brigade of Iloilo. This is under a matching grant project of our club granted by the Rotary Foundation. The Fire Truck donated will greatly boost up the fire fighting capabilities of the Federation Fire Brigade in the City of Iloilo.

We will have another Blood Letting Project at the District Hospital of Guimbal on December 17, 2008. I encourage our members to join and participate in the noble project.
