Dear Fellow Rotarians,

I would like to thank you all for your valuable support during our Governor’s visit and at our Feeding program and book donation, both were very successful because of your continuous participation and involvement. DG James was present during our feeding program and has personally witnessed the sad state of Manual L. Quezon Elementary School. He challenged us to do something about the unavailability of potable water and health facilities as well as the sanitation concerns of the school. He has also suggested to possibly adopt the school, so there will be a bigger impact with our efforts.

Governor’s Address:
Please be informed that the Governor’s ball will be on August 14, 2010 7 P.M. at Hotel del Rio, Gen. Luna St., Iloilo City. It was agreed during the meeting of the Council of Presidents that each club is given a quota in the attendance in proportion to the number of club members. The assessment is P500.00 per person. Our club is required to have a minimum attendees of fifteen (15) members with an equivalent assessment of P7,500.00. Whether or not we reach the minimum of attendees, we have to pay the corresponding assessment of P7,500.00. Aside from the foregoing, each club is assessed P2,000.00 mandatory contribution to the said affair.

With your indulgence, I am appealing again to all Metro Rotarians to please support our Governor and our club by attending this important district affair.

Blood Letting Project:
I would like to inform that our Annual Blood Letting at Rep. Trono District Hospital, Guimbal, Iloilo is scheduled on 20 August 2010 facilitated through the untiring efforts of PP Ronel Quioñon. Another batch is scheduled on October 2010 this year at Ramon Tabiana District Hospital, Cabatuan, Iloilo. There is an urgent need of blood supply today due to dengue outbreak in our community. I urge all able Metro Rotarians to donate blood because these efforts will certainly help save lives.

Proposed Sisterhood Pact:
Last week, I received a good news from PDG Ramon about the positive development of our mutually proposed sisterhood agreement with the Rotary Club of Dong Ansung East, Korea. Through the latter’s representative, Ms. Soo Kang. She informed that Rotarians from Dong Ansung East are coming over to visit us first week of September 2010. Reciprocally, we are also required to visit them on the month of October 2010 as suggested. The negotiation process appeared smooth sailing and I am confident that we can finally ink a sisterhood agreement with them. Those who are interested to go to Korea please be guided with our future announcements.

Good news also came from our first community service project that was formally launched last week using our Mobile Kitchen. In cooperation with the Philippine National Red Cross - Iloilo Chapter, the project was simple but brought a significant effect on the less privileged children who at their tender age have experienced your generosity and care.

Thank you all once again and may the Lord Almighty sustain us in continuously serving and caring His less fortunate people.
