Governor’s Joint Address
PDF Print E-mail

Dear Fellow Rotarians,

I would like to convey my sincere thanks to all Rotarians who attended the Governor’s address.  There were sixteen (16) Rotarians who were present during the said affair.  Modesty aside, three (3) Metro Rotarians, namely: PP Kano Ng, PP Chris Montero and Dir. Paul Francia have played important roles contributing to the success of the said activity.  Again, thank you for the endless support to our club.

Blood Letting Project

This is to confirm that we will be having the Blood Letting activity at Rep. Trono Memorial Hospital, Guimbal, Iloilo on 20 August 2010.  We will assemble at Ocean City Restaurant 8 A.M. and will jump off at exactly 8:30 A.M.  Everyone is aware that there is an urgent need of blood supply these days due to the outbreak of the dreaded dengue illness.  Let us once again join hands to support this worthy endeavor because your generosity will surely save lives.

Sisterhood Agreement

It is also confirmed that thirteen (13) Rotarians from Dong Ansung East, Korea will be arriving on September 2, 2010 via Manila to Iloilo City. The turn of events have been faster than expected, but certainly, they are coming to consummate the signing of our Sisterhood pact.

During our Special Board Meeting last week, Director Paul was chosen Committee Chairman, since this activity falls under his Committee for International Service.  We have a proposed feeding program at Arevalo Elem. School that will benefit 1,300 pupils.  We will also bring Korean Rotarians to our adopted Day Care Centers of Brgy. Calubihan, and Brgy. Airport, Manduriao, Iloilo City.  We will keep you posted of the progress of the said proposed activities.

Matching Grant Project

PP Kano Ng informed me that our Matching Grant Project Application “Rescue Van” was already submitted to The Rotary Foundation of Rotary International and is expected to be approved soon. Earlier, it was discussed and considered during our Board Meeting the possibility of applying for a Mobile Blood Letting Van but due to insufficiency of funds, we are constrained to settle down to a project with lesser cost that corresponds to the funds available.

Membership and Extension Month

In the Rotary Calendar, August is Membership and Extension Month.  To respond to Rotary International’s call for each club to grow “bigger,” I am exhorting all Metro Rotarians to invite potential members to augment our strength and fortify our efforts to sustain our quest to serve our less fortunate brethren.

May the Lord God be with us always in all our undertakings.
