Dear Fellow Rotarians, Earlier, I have expressed my honest assessment as regards the club performance during my stewardship. The motive is simple. It is my humble desire to convey that message that the club cannot achieve its goals with only few member doing their part. We need the cooperation and participation of all the members. It is sad to note that their are few members who have not shown their faces ever since this administration began. Some are very active Rotarians before, while others are once “Most Outstanding Presidents”. Are they burned out or tired of rotary. Please recall that I did not sought this position ever since. You are the one who gave me the mandate and I am expecting that you will be with me to effectively discharge the duties and responsibilities attached to the position. Please bear with me for revealing this sentiment. I just wanted to incite you to rekindle the passion and enthusiasm you have demonstrated before. You have made this club “Most Outstanding” 17 times and in your hand rest its reputation in the future. Last Friday I, together with Sec. Leo, Dir. Dave and Rtn. Darrel attended the ceremonial start of the repair of the clinic of Manuel L. Quezon Elem. Sch. Hopefully it can be completed and turned over before the year end. However, our assistance will not stop there. We will implement our plan to provide medical services to the pupils once the clinic is operational. DG James promised to supply one (1) pulmo aide nebulizer. Rtn. Leo Malunes pledge to do the deworming. We also planned to extend other medical services that can be offered by our member doctors to help uplift the health conditions of some pupils of the said school. Like wise last Friday, we have conducted the orientation of the students of West Visayas State University for our proposed Rotaract Club. About twenty (20) students attended. Mr. Kenneth Eusebio, facilitator, informed us that more could have attended if we hold the orientation earlier since some of the student are going home already that time. Inspite of some technical problems in our power point presentation, we are able to do it successfully. Thanks to ever prepared Dir. Paul Francia. His backup presentation saved the day. Thanks also to Dir. Dave for doing the on the spot lecture. Similarly to Rtn. Peter for his make up and expertise in trouble shooting our malfunctioned projector used during the orientation. Last Saturday, we were also invited the graduation ceremony in our co-sponsored livelihood training program at Mandurriao, Iloilo City. There were 16 out of school youth who graduated the program and received certificates of completion and kits to start with their livelihood. Thanks to Rtn. Felix Gurrea for sharing us the opportunity to be of service to closely following up this program. Thanks also to the presence of IPP Apuy, Rtn. Darrel and rtn. Ronald during the graduation rites. Today and the next succeeding Tuesday, we will be exercising our duty to nominate and later chose new set of officers who will steward us next rotary year. Each Rotarians has his own time to serve and this is the proper time for you to respond to the call of duty. As aptly said “He profits most who serves best”. |
