Dear Fellow Rotarians, Last Tuesday 15 February 2011, we did the ceremonial turn-over of the rehabilitated clinic of Manuel L. Quezon E/S together with your donated books, toys, and old clothes. A hundred pupils have lined up as they warmly welcomed us in the said turn over. PDG Francis Te and PDG Edgar Sy joined us grace the occasion. You can see in the faces of the school children the unexplained as they received your donated books and toys and old clothes. What a feeling of great joy and contentment helping in our simple way these little ones. Thanks to all Metro Rotarians who spared time to be with us in that occasion. On February 19, 2011, the “HAPPI PROJECT” in partnership with the Colegio de San Jose was formally launched. Twenty Eight (28) ALS (Alternative Learning System) students were presented. They are underprivileged and impoverish out-of-school youths and drop-outs who dreamed and dedicate themselves to pursue their studies to college. They were very happy knowing that you Metro Rotarians are reaching out to help them. February 23, is the Anniversary of the Rotary International. To highlight this memorable event, at our end we have conducted an Essay Writing Contest for the high school students of Colegio de San Jose, adopting the RI theme “Building communities, Bridging Continents. We will give due recognition to the winners in our next week’s regular meeting. On February 26, 2011, we will be also attending the Skills Training and Livelihood project of 25 parents of Brgy, So-oc, Arevalo, Iloilo City. We will be donating and turning over the equipments needed for the baking and food processing. Please join us in this endeavour. All earlier said, it brings great inspiration to serve Rotary being used as channels of your generosity and kindness. Metro Rotarians never tire to find means to show concern and care to the less privileged members of our community. May God give grace to continue serving His people. |
