Dear Fellow Rotarians, Please recall that February 23, 2011 was the anniversary of the Rotary International. We commemorated this momentous event by performing simple but meaningful activities that promote Rotary to the community. We conducted an Essay Writing Contest to the high school students of Colegio de San Jose on February 21, 2011, adopting this year’s Rotary International theme “Building Communities, Bridging Continents. We are blessed with the presence of the winners today together with their teacher –advisers. We recognize and honor them today as a token of appreciation for lending a hand in celebrating our anniversary and promoting Rotary. On February 26, 2011, we also conducted a Community Service Project at Brgy. So-oc, Arevalo, Iloilo city, in cooperation with Colegio de San Jose, Community Extension Program. We supported the livelihood and skills training of the Day Care Parents by donating an oven and refrigerator. We hope the said equipments can help the parents improve their daily means of income to support their respective families. They were very happy knowing that Metro Rotarians are there to respond to their needs. Last February 28, 2011, we also turned over the Emergency Rescue Vehicle completely equipped with emergency life saving gadgets to the Phil. National Red Cross, Iloilo Chapter. This is a matching grant project co-sponsored with our long time Rotarian friends from the Rotary Club of Itako, Japan. We are sure that this emergency rescue vehicle can attend and serve numerous emergency patients in the city and province of Panay. Today, we are similarly honored by the presence of Assistant Governor from our Sister Club, Rotary Club of Ansung East, South Korea. He is currently working out with PDG Ramon Locsin, the necessary documents to facilitate and expedite our proposed matching grant project with his club that will certainly benefit thousand of public school students next school year. We salute to these great Rotarians who are tirelessly working and finding ways to help our community and the world. Metro Rotarians never cease to explore ways and mean to help the less privileged members of the community. With utmost humility, there is a great feeling of joy and fulfilment in serving others. May God give us grace to continue serving His people. |
