Dear Fellow Rotarians, Our hosting of the delegation from our Sister club RC Ansung East has been very successful. They were very grateful for the warm hospitality we have given to them. Discussions for the proposed matching grant project is underway and we are hoping to get positive results in due time. We give due recognition to PDG Ramon, PP Kano and Dir. Paul Francia for facilitating this endeavour. Special thanks to RTN. Darrel for joining me accompany our visitors to Boracay and fetching them to Kalibo Airport. Similar appreciation is conveyed to all Metro Rotarians who attended our last week’s meeting and fellowship with Rotarians from Ansung East. DISCON 2011 in Zamboanga City has just concluded. There were only six (6) Metro Rotarians attended, the lowest attendance so far, since I joined this club. I owe my gratefulness to PE DOY, PDG RAMON, PP KANO, RTN. PEPE, RTN. and RTN. DARREL. In spite of their hectic schedules, they spared time to represent our club. Please be informed that our club got one and only major award- Most Outstanding Club in International Service. Our effort in this avenue of service has really paid off. I regret very much for breaking the club’s long years of reputation in excellence. I really tried, in my limited capacity, to haul out your support and maintain our performance but more efforts are needed to be at par with other clubs. We certainly deserve what we got this year. This serves as a challenge for us to do more to put our club back to pedestal. DISCON is not the culmination of this rotary year’s activities. We still have unfinished projects and activities that need implementation and completion. We will push through with our planned medical services program to the pupils of Manuel L. Quezon E/S at the opening of the next school year. We must continue supporting our ALS project for the Out of School Youths and school drop outs. We still have a Blood Letting program to be initiated by Dir. Dave Jamora. We will continue supporting our livelihood program at Brgy. So-oc, Arevalo, Iloilo City. Further, two (2) remaining pulmo aide nebulizers are available for distribution. Identifying the proposed recipient is underway. If implemented, we can capitalize all these projects for the next rotary year. It is my appeal to everyone not to be exhausted and born out in participating and supporting our club especially in all its programs that take care for our underprivileged brethren. While these works of charity cannot be recognized here on earth, surely the eternal reward is waiting up above. |
