After an impressively successful induction, we now have to roll up our sleeves and start doing what we ought to do. The Community Service Committee, headed by Dir. Chairman Pepe Sullano, has accepted to partly host and coordinate a medical mission on July 26-27, by the Volunteer Service team from Jeju National University thru RC Jeju Central of South Korea. This particular activity is being chaired by Rtn. Ronnel Quinon. On its first regular monthly meeting, the Board had appropriated a budget for this undertaking. The New Generations Committee, under Dir. Dave Jamora, has organized the RCMI Rotaract Club of West Visayas State University. They are scheduled to be inducted during our fellowship meeting sometime in August. The Rotary Community Corps in So-oc is in its final organizational stage and a livelihood project is being developed in partnership with our Vocational Service Committee headed by Dir. Chair Felix Gurrea. After I’m done rushing this column, I will be with Dir. Dave and the members of the Vocational/New Generations committees at Westbridge for the formation of our Interact Club. I would like to extend my grateful appreciation to PP Chris for preparing the slide materials for presentation. Although we already have scheduled some Community, Vocational, New Generations and Public Relations projects, we need the final drafts of the plans and objectives of the three committees. We also need to receive the plans and activities of our Club Service and Membership Committees, so that we can have our Club Assembly on our second meeting in August. If Dir. Chairman Abay Sta. Romana is ready, we will hear from him today the activities his committee has prepared for this Rotary year. I hope that the other Director Chairs and their respective teams will follow the good example that Dir. Abay is setting. |
