Medical mission

The last eight days that I was away proved that the club could function efficiently even without its president. It shows that we have a well-placed organizational structure and the members are aware of their responsibility and have the desire to fulfill their commitment as Rotarians. In this regard, I would like to commend VP Margs for a job well done, as well as Dir. Chairmen Dave Jamora and Pepe Sullano; IPP/Sec Toto Tanagon, PP Ronnel Quinon, PP Tony S. and all the members who went out of their way to make the medical mission and the hosting of our Korean friends a big success.
I was informed that our Rotarian guests from the Rotary Club of Jeju Central and the medical team enjoyed the hospitality accorded to them and were well pleased. The signing of the Friendship Agreement is the initial gesture of a more fruitful relationship that both clubs are looking forward to. This event is a joint undertaking of the Community and International Service committees.

We will have our first Club Assembly on August 9, 2011. Each Director Chairman will be presenting their committee’s proposed plans and activities for the year. We have adopted the six- major committee structure namely: Club Service, Public Relations, Membership, Community Service, Vocational/ New Generations/ International Service and Rotary Foundation. Since all the members were assigned memberships in each of the six major committees, you are then encouraged to actively participate in your committee’s activities, as well as those that you may have interest in. Some of the committees such as the New Generations, Public Relations, Community Service and International Service have already started implementing their plans.

For some members who might have been absent during the committee meetings to formulate the plans and activities, now is the time for those who have suggestions or may wish to revise the plan to speak up before everything becomes final. For those who are not comfortable with the committee assigned to them, they may request to be transferred to a committee where they can be most effective in.

Although I feel that our organizational structure is quite well placed, I believe that each member must be comfortable and happy with what he does, for him to serve the community well. For it is by being able to serve and share with those in need that we may find fulfillment in our lives.
