August is Membership and Extension month

In Rotary’s calendar, August is Membership and Extension month. One of our club’s major committees is the Membership Committee chaired by Dir. Peter Paul Yap. The Membership Committee has three sub committees namely: Rotary Info chaired by PP Francis Dela Cruz, Classification under PP Cyril Regalado and Attendance under PDG Francis Te.

The club membership committee is responsible for developing and implementing action plans for recruiting, retaining and educating club members. For this Rotary year, the names of three proposed members were circulated in the last couple of weeks and three more were endorsed by the board in its previous meeting. Since there was no objection from the body for the first three, they must be encouraged to attend our club meeting. On the other hand, the implemented suggestion of the Attendance Committee chair on how to improve weekly attendance is working well.

PDG Francis still has other ideas that will be put in place in the coming months. The Metro Post is one good source of Rotary Information, don’t let the efforts of Dir Tony Kon and PP Chris go to waste by merely glancing on the cover. Rotary Info chair, PP Francis Dela Cruz has loads of materials for the proposed Rotarians, in slide presentation. In its last committee meeting the membership committee had identified the following classifications to be vacant: dentistry, education, religion and female members!

Our next week’s meeting (August 16), will be at 7:00PM instead of 12:15 pm at our usual meeting place. The change in time is for us to extend our meeting time slightly longer for the Governor’s club visit. Attire is short-sleeved polo barong or business attire. The Attendance Committee is encouraging all members to attend this meeting and extend the encouragement to a member you know or to your fellow committee members.

On August 24, our club is hosting the RCC Seminar for districts 3850 and 3860 with RIPE Tanaka as guest of honor and speaker. After the seminar, he will be available for photo sessions with the registrants--an opportunity to have your picture taken with the next Rotary International President. In the morning of his arrival, the RIPE will be joining us in a Feeding Program at Pavia Elementary School. And on August 27 is the joint Governor’s Address, 7:00PM at Sarabia Manor. Those who can are enjoined to attend and support this affair.
