We are now about to end the first half of the Rotary year and I believe it is time for us to assess what our club, most especially the members have done in the pursuit of the Object of Rotary and in embodying its motto: Service Above Self. Each Director Chairman must give a report on the status of his committee’s Action Plans and Objectives presented to the members and to the district governor at the start of the year. This way we will be able to know what we did right or wrong, what we still need to do and how are we going to do it right or what do we need to do it right. As officers and chairmen of the different committees, we have the responsibility to inform the members of what has been done and what else must be done. If anyone wishes to belong to an outstanding club or a prestigious club that is on top of the other clubs, then we must all work for it by supporting and actively participating in the club’s activities. One of Rotary’s six areas of focus is disease Prevention and Treatment. Under this area we have partnered with WVRMC-HACT and PSMID in their drive to create awareness to HIV, give free testing and medication to alleviate its symptoms and prevent its spread. We have taken part in the launching of the HIV Forum at Mandurriao National High School, printed HIV information leaflets and in December we are again participating in the celebration of World AIDS Day. There will be a Poster Making Contest and an Essay Writing Contest for high school students. In this regard, I would like to convene the board for a special meeting after our regular weekly meeting to discuss funding for this project. At 2:00 pm this afternoon, there will be a meeting with the CSWD at F. Gurrea Ent. HR’s office to discuss the mechanics of the Search for Outstanding Barangay Health Worker for the district of Mandurriao. Any member who is interested to lend a hand to this project is welcome to attend. Today we are inducting into our club a new member, Carlos “Caloy” Javellana, classification- Restaurant Management, sponsored by PP Jun Borromeo. Caloy, WELCOME to RCMI. |
