Dear Fellow Rotarians,
We had a very wonderful and lively meeting last week. Our attendance was impressive and very encouraging. We had a resource speaker from the Bureau of Fire Protection, SFO4 ANTONIO Escobido, Jr., who talked about simple but very informative fire safety tips. We have also shared a sumptuous lechon courtesy of all the birthday celebrants in the month of July. With your presence and active participation, I am very confident that we could conduct very interesting and enjoyable meetings every week.
RI Membership fee, etc. I would like to inform you that we have already paid all our mandatory dues such as the RI Membership dues, the PRM subscriptions, and we will be paying our Governor’s fund today. Again, thank youyou’re your cooperation in making early payments of your Rotary obligations.
Renewal of Sisterhood Agreement Last Saturday, we have renewed our Sisterhood Agreement with the Rotary Club of Balintawak. We had the signing at Hotel del Rio, with the David S. Bongala, President of RC Balintawak, and witnessed by his members and PDG Ramon Locsin, PP Kano Ng and Sec. Leo Villavert.
Governor’s visit Today, Governor James Makasiar will have his official visit to our club. Early this morning, we had a feeding activity and book donation at Manuel L. Quezon Elementary School, located at Ledesma St., Iloilo City. This school has been identified by the Department of Education, Iloilo City as one of the most depressed elementary schools in the City. During our initial visit, we have learned that 70% of the pupils are malnourished; that there is no potable water in the premises; and that the school rooms are dilapidated. We have seen a school clinic but it is being utilized as bodega of damaged school equipment. This school badly needs our help and perhaps, the feeding and book donation will be a good start.
We have a lot to do as we commence our call to serve our community in need. We hope that the Lord Almighty will always grant us His grace making us His instrument of caring for His less fortunate people.
