Dear Fellow Rotarians,

Please recall that in the Rotary Calendar, the month of August is Membership and Extension month.  At our end, we have conducted rotary information, through the guidance of PP Chris Montero, to three (3) prospective members namely:  Andrei Cornejo-Thrift Banking, Atty. Ronald Lao-Civil and Criminal Law, and John Peter Billena-Food Distribution.  Two (2) of them are present today to take their oath and affirm their willingness and interest to join the club.   I would like to convey my gratefulness to IPP Apuy Chan Chu, PP Kano Ng, PP Ray Celis, Dir. Paul Francia, Dir Abay and Rtn. Darrel, who helped this club activity successful.  I hope this would bring impetus leading towards achieving our goal to grow and going better and bigger as a club.

Dengue Alert
Last week, we were lucky to have with us Dr. Socorro Quiñon as our resource speaker sharing with us valuable information about Dengue.  She gave us updates about the status of dengue cases region wide and she recommended ways and means to prevent the spread of this disease.  She also exhorted us to do our share to help curb the rapid rise of Dengue cases in our community

Blood Letting Program
I am pleased to inform that there are Eighty two (82) generous donors who have donated blood during our sponsored Blood Letting program last Friday 20 August 2010 at Rep. Pedro Trono Memorial Hospital, Guimbal, Iloilo.  Although insufficient to meet the urgent demand of blood these days, surely, the recent extractions are substantial enough to replenish the dwindling supply of blood that consequently help save lives.   Again, thanks to the endless effort of PP Ronnel  Quiñon for facilitating this worthy endeavor.  Similar appreciation is conveyed to Rtn. Doctors Roland Uy and Pepe Sullano and IPP Apuy for their valuable presence and assistance during the blood letting.

Metro Sports Fests
After inquiry, I received communication from RC Metro Bacolod about the status of Metro Sports Fests giving us updates on the schedules, games format, registration forms and hotel rates.  We will publish full details of the sports fests in our next issue of the Metropost.  We will tackle this thoroughly in our Special Board meeting regarding the necessary preparations, delegation and the appointment of Chairman/men for this activity.

Matching Club-RC Ansung East (Korea)
As mentioned earlier, the necessary preparations for the hosting of Rotarians from RC Ansung East, Korea is already in place made possible through the efforts of Dir. Paul Francia, Committee Chair for this Match Club Activity. Enclosed are the itinerary schedule and program for your ready reference.  I am counting on your valuable presence and participation to this important club activity.
