RY 2012-13 Officers

Article 3, Section 1 of our Bylaws provide that before we could elect the president, vice-president, secretary, treasurer and the members of the board, we should first nominate members for this positions as previously announced. Since we already have a president-elect in the person of PE Philip Co, today we shall accept nominations for president-nominee and the composition of the board for RY 2012-13 from which the other officers will either be appointed by the PE or elected by the members. In next week’s regular meeting we will elect from the nominees who will fill the above mentioned positions.

It is through this process that the incoming-president is given time to bond with the incoming club officers and board as well as start to draw up plans for the succeeding Rotary year. In my experience, it will be most beneficial if the president, the officers and members of the board have internalized their club duties and responsibilities and will be in one accord in the fulfillment of such. It should not be taken for granted that being a member of a Rotary club or as a Rotarian, each member knows his role in the club and the society which embraces him. Let us not rely on the fact that before a member was sworn in, he was given the basic Rotary information which was presumed understood and regularly updated through various Rotary materials for the members’ perusal. For what if such materials are not one’s cup of tea or does not meet one’s scope of interest or simply too busy even as to browse on such materials?

Last week I presented the accomplishments of our club’s major committees vis-à-vis the plans and objectives presented during our club assembly. Ideally, it should have been presented by the respective director chairmen as it was their committee’s accomplishments, however only Dir. Pepe Sullano was around to present his team’s performance. In this regard I would like to share with you all a post from the fb account of District 3850: “ The measure of success in all our club’s service projects is not how big or how many we have done. It lies in the hearts of the committed, dedicated Rotarians in fulfilling and providing the needs of the adopted community, transforming them into a place where hopes and dreams take root and blossom; a place where the Rotary Core Values are built.” Isn’t it about time that we also assess ourselves and find out what our real motive/s is/are in joining Rotary? You can use the 4-way test to find out!

Allow me to reiterate what Rotary is as recently defined: Rotary is a worldwide network of individuals who translate their passions into relevant social causes to (positively) change lives in the communities. ARE YOU A ROTARIAN?
